Parent Teacher Conferences

Our last Parent-Teacher Conference, on the afternoon of April 6, is optional.  If you feel you have had plenty of teacher-parent communication time you can opt not to have a formal conference.

Sign-up sheets will be sent home again, today and should be returned as soon as possible.  The first schedules back will get their first choice.

Grossology

We will be visiting the Wilbur May Museum on April 15.  The theme will be the gross parts of science.  A permission slip is being sent home today.  We will need drivers.  This should be a fun and scientific learning experience.

Youth Rally

On the week-end of April 16-17 there will be a youth Rally for western Nevada and eastern California held at the Reno and Sparks Seventh-day Adventist churches.

Our children have been invited to participate as a musical group singing and playing their ukuleles on Saturday morning.  Please mark these dates on your calendar.  More information will be sent later.

Outdoor Education

This year the theme for our Outdoor Education will be “Nevada History.”  We will be camping at two different places in the state, visiting museums, historical monuments, hiking, studying science, and playing pioneer.

Your child is responsible for $65 of the fees.  This will cover their food for the week.  Many of your children have raised enough money to cover their expenses.  The rest of the money will be coming from Home and School.

We will need parents to chaperone and drive.  Please let the teachers know as soon as possible if you would like to go with us.  There will be no charge for parents, but you will be expected to help the whole week.

Plans for Next Year

I sent home a form for all parents to sign and send back so we will know each of your intentions for next school year.  Five families have responded.  Even if you are not planning to send your child back it would be nice to know in advance. As you know, we have had to cut back our staff because of enrollment not growing as we had envisioned.

We have had some interests from the Heavenly Valley church members so it would be good to get your child’s place reserved for next year.

Many of you know that Mr. Crisp will be leaving us.  He has gotten a good job teaching in north-east Oregon.  He will be missed greatly.

Year Book

Many of you parents have taken pictures throughout the year.  We will be putting together a yearbook and if everyone helps it should be pretty easy.  We are planning to get together on a Sunday in May after the out door education field trip.  If you would like to help, bring your digital cards from your camera.  In just a few hours we should be able to get it all together.

Writers’ Convention

April 22, a Thursday evening at 6:30 will be our annual Writers’ Convention.  You will enjoy the great writing that your child has done this year.  Refreshments will be served.
